Join me in my adventure of great golf games and a DIY Putting Green project.
With my “Let’s see what will happen” attitude, I plan to create a DIY green in my backyard. I have read a lot from others who have done this, and yes, it is a large and overwhelming project.
I have a concept in mind, and I plan to create a digital image of the project to help me build it, discover costs, and work through any problems before I attempt anything IRL. A few friends have offered to help, and I appreciate them.
This is just going to be something fun. I am excited to see where this all goes!
The putting green will go on the northwest corner of my property where the slopes will help drainage.
Currently, I have decided to build a smaller green because I am uncertain the roadblocks I will have to work through. Once I conquer them, I can add to or create another green at a later time.

Update 23.07.28
I am working on a simple concept of the "Let's Start Here" picture. I do not want anything big and fancy. I can always update/upgrade later. I just need something to get me started.
My love of golf reignited when I heard a co-worker talk about his love of the game during work training. When we had to talk about ourselves, he always included something great about golf. He sparked memories of me playing 18 with my dad. Those were great times.
Training was over in a few weeks, but the idea of playing golf again never left my mind. One day, I reached out to him to ask him for golf advise and he agreed. I hit him up for tips while I was at the driving range. He was very helpful and tried to persuade me to play a round. But I had yet to build up my confidence.
Then, I met another golfer at the driving range who also gave me a few valuable tips. Later, he invited me to a Scramble. The idea of playing was uncomfortable. I realized I could not grow as a golfer or grow my world larger if I didn’t step outside of my comfort zone. This scramble was a perfect opportunity. It was AWESOME!!! I laughed all 18 holes. We played three of my balls and I putted one in for the team. I have not been back since, but that is how it goes sometimes. I do plan on going back.
I have a friend who is coaching me as we play 18. Sad to say, our first game was interrupted by lightning. The rain came and went, but once the lightning arrived, everyone left. We have a raincheck I hope to use with him soon on the back nine.
July 4th, my cousin invited me to a BBQ at his place. The BBQ was awesome, the fireworks were breath taking, and the people were great. This is where Heaven and my earth meet, he has a golf simulator! Because I keep my clubs in my trunk all the time, I was able to try the simulator. He invited me to the winter games he holds. I know, how can my life get any better? Well, let me tell you - I need to build a DIY putting green in my backyard to perfect my long putt. Yes, you are right, this is the stuff dreams are made of!
